Gandi's domain prices have always been a little higher than their low-budget competitors, but they provided a pretty good service, so many people (myself included) were okay with that.
Following Total Webhosting Solutions' acquisition of Gandi in 2023, there were some changes to their services (notably, their free mailboxes were discontinued), and the domain renewal fees increased slightly. However, it wasn't enough for me to start shopping around for a new domain name registrar.
But now, in their August 2024 price list, they are certainly giving customers a good reason to look for other options. The .com renewal price is up nearly 60%.
Meanwhile, the first-year registration fee remains unchanged, in a poor attempt to lure customers in.
